Charles S. Lieber Fund Established

Charles S. Lieber, MD, MACP, FACG, recipient of the AGA Distinguished Achievement Award, passed away on March 1, 2009 at his home in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. In recognition of his work in gastroenterology, his family has established the Charles S. Lieber Fund within the AGA Foundation that will establish a named award or lecture in his honor.

A Strong Foundation For Turbulent Times

The AGA Foundation for Digestive Health and Nutrition distributed almost $3 million in research grants in 2008. Despite the current stormy economic climate, the Foundation aims to distribute the same amount in 2009.
